‘Ohana Peelua Genealogy Workshop Gathering
July 31- Aug 1, 2026 Friday & Saturday in Palolo, O‘ahu
This gathering is intended to be a 2-Day Family History and Genealogy Gathering Workshop dedicated to reconnecting our family through history, genealogy, storytelling, and shared ʻike passed down through generations.
Rather than a traditional family reunion centered primarily around entertainment and recreational activities, this gathering is being organized as a meaningful opportunity for our family to come together with purpose to learn about our ancestors, strengthen our understanding of our family connections, and preserve the stories and knowledge that have shaped our ʻohana.
Family members will participate in genealogy workshops and discussions focused on researching and documenting our family lines, creating family group sheets, building pedigree charts, family trees, and learning the importance and practice of reciting genealogy in Hawaiian. We will also spend time sharing family moʻolelo, memories, photographs, and stories so that they may be preserved for future generations. One of the long-term goals of this gathering is to collectively work toward creating a comprehensive family genealogy and history book that can serve as a legacy for our ohana.
This gathering is also an opportunity to reconnect with one another, strengthen family relationships, and honor those who came before us by ensuring their names, stories, and contributions are remembered and carried forward.
We warmly invite all family members to attend and participate in this special weekend of learning, sharing, and reconnecting. Since many of you couldn’t make it to Moloka‘i this past November 2025 for the ‘Ohana Peelua reunion, this is your opportunity to meet and learn about your ‘ohana on O‘ahu, a little more accessible. Bring your old photos and genealogy to share, we will bring a scanner, so we can capture some of these photos and be able to share.
Please register at www.peeluaohana.org so we can properly prepare for meals, seating, workshop materials, etc…
The gathering will be hosted in the cafeteria at Ke Kula ʻO Ānuenue in Pālolo Valley during the weekend of July 31–August 1, 2026 Friday & Saturday.
To help offset the cost of meals and supplies for the weekend, we kindly ask each attendee to make a $20 registration donation. Your contribution will go to help cover food and other gathering expenses costs. Mahalo!
